Results: Solar Return Annual Predictions
Methodology
Instead of traditional "Good/Bad" aspects, we calculated the Cosine Similarity of the angle between every planetary pair in the Solar Return chart ($+1$ for Conjunction, $-1$ for Opposition).
- Sample: 451 Life Events (Death, Marriage, Award, Divorce, Crisis).
- Metric: T-test comparing the cosine mean of a specific event vs. all other years.
Key Findings
1. The Secular Bias (Slow Movers)
The strongest statistical signals came from outer planet pairs (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto).
- Death & Uranus-Neptune ($p < 0.001$): This is likely a historical artifact. The Uranus-Neptune conjunction occurred in the early 1990s. If our dataset has a cluster of deaths in the 1990s (which it does, as many 20th-century figures died then), this "signal" is likely just a timestamp, not astrology.
- Divorce & Uranus-Pluto ($p < 0.001$): Similarly, the Uranus-Pluto conjunction of the mid-1960s coincides with the cultural rise of divorce rates.
2. The Astrological Signals (Fast Movers)
Filtering out the generational interactions, we find meaningful correlations with faster-moving bodies (Moon, Mercury, Venus).
Death: Moon-Lilith Conjunction ($p=0.009$)
- Signal: Positive cosine (+0.21 diff).
- Meaning: In years of death, the Solar Return Moon is significantly more likely to be Conjunct Lilith (Black Moon Apogee).
- Archetype: Lilith represents the void, the wild, and often death/transition. This is a striking archetypal match.
- Note: This result persists despite the uncertainty of noon-birth times (Moon position error $\pm 6^\circ$ is acceptable for cosine analysis).
Marriage: Venus-Uranus Conjunction ($p=0.016$)
- Signal: Positive cosine (+0.18 diff).
- Meaning: In marriage years, Venus is more likely to be Conjunct Uranus.
- Archetype: "Sudden Love" or "Exciting Relationships." Conventional astrology might expect Venus-Jupiter, but this data supports the electric/liberating nature of Uranus in union.
Crisis: Mercury-Neptune Opposition ($p=0.06$)
- Signal: Negative cosine (-0.21 diff).
- Meaning: In crisis years, Mercury tends to be Opposite Neptune.
- Archetype: Confusion, deception, misdiagnosis, and mental fog. A classic indicator of difficult times.
3. Null Results
- Jupiter: Surprisingly, Jupiter (the "Great Benefic") did not show strong "Conjunction" signals for Awards. Instead, Awards correlated with Jupiter Opposite Node ($p=0.01$), suggesting that success might come from "going against the grain" or releasing (South Node) rather than acquiring.
Conclusion
The "Agnostic Cosine" method successfully filtered out human bias but introduced historical bias. However, by focusing on fast-moving planets, we recovered credible astrological signatures: Death involves the Moon/Lilith void, Marriage involves Venus/Uranus excitement, and Crisis involves Mercury/Neptune confusion.
