Project 20: Genetic Algorithms for Astrological Rule Discovery
Overview
This study applies evolutionary search techniques (Genetic Algorithms) to identify astrological "rules" or signatures that appear more frequently than chance in a dataset of high-achieving individuals.
Methodology
- Dataset: 86 High-Profile Celebrities across Science, Arts, Politics, Sports, and Philosophy.
- Source: Verified birth data (Rodden Rating AA/A equivalents) where possible.
- Algorithm: Exhaustive Search (Genetic Algorithm feature selection equivalent).
- Fitness Function: Frequency of occurrence in the population.
- Search Space: All Planets (Sun-Pluto) + Nodes (Rahu/Ketu) in all 12 Signs (Tropical and Vedic).
- Baseline Expectation: ~8.3% (1/12) for random distribution.
Results
1. Tropical Zodiac Analysis
Top "Personal" Rules (Excluding Generational Planets)
- Mars in Libra: 18.6% (Fitness: 0.186) - More than 2x expected freq.
- Interpretation: Mars is in Detriment in Libra. The high frequency suggests that "fight for justice" or social agitation (Libra) is a common driver for fame/success, rather than "pure aggression" (Aries).
- Moon in Sagittarius: 16.3% (Fitness: 0.163)
- Interpretation: Emotional need for freedom, philosophy, and expansion.
- Sun in Cancer: 14.0% (Fitness: 0.140)
- Mercury in Cancer: 12.8% (Fitness: 0.128)
Generational Artifacts (Demographics)
- Pluto in Leo: 26.7% (Fitness: 0.267) - Reflects the "Baby Boomer" generation dominance in the current celebrity list (born 1939-1957).
Nodes (Rahu/Ketu)
- Nodes appeared fairly evenly distributed. Top findings (~11.6%) did not exceed significance thresholds compared to Mars/Moon anomalies.
- Top Tropical Node: Rahu in Sagittarius / Leo / Libra (11.6%).
2. Vedic (Sidereal Lahiri) Analysis
Top "Personal" Rules
- Moon in Scorpio: 17.4% (Fitness: 0.174)
- Interpretation: Moon is Debilitated (Neecha) in Scorpio. High achievers often have "afflicted" charts that drive them to overcompensate or possess intense emotional depth.
- Mars in Virgo: 17.4% (Fitness: 0.174)
- Interpretation: Analytical action, precision, craftsmanship.
- Jupiter in Taurus: 15.1% (Fitness: 0.151)
- Moon in Aquarius: 14.0% (Fitness: 0.140)
Nodes (Rahu/Ketu)
- Similar to Tropical, Rahu/Ketu showed no sharp peaks.
- Top Vedic Node: Rahu in Leo (11.6%).
3. Synthesis & Interpretation
The "Hardship" Hypothesis: Both systems point to planets in "weak" or "challenging" dignity being over-represented in high achievers:
- Tropical: Mars in Libra (Detriment).
- Vedic: Moon in Scorpio (Debilitated).
This contradicts standard "cookbooks" that say debilitated planets cause failure. Instead, they may provide the psychological friction necessary to fuel exceptional ambition and achievement.
